Trainer Overview
Dr. Nancy Day, DNP, RN
Hi Everyone! I am Nan.
Since a young age, I have been fascinated by why the human body stays healthy or gets sick. After volunteering at a hospital in high school, I became a Registered Nurse to help people recover from illness and prevent disease. Later, I was introduced to energy healing in nursing through Therapeutic Touch (TT).
The practice of TT uses hands in a noncontact sweeping motion to smooth and balance a person’s energy field to relieve anxiety and pain. Seeing the success of this practice sparked my curiosity. I became interested in learning Qigong… “Someday”.
After 35+ years of nursing, I obtained my Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP). However, the process during the chaotic pandemic was physically, emotionally, and spiritually draining. I felt it was time to explore the “Someday” Qigong for rejuvenation. In January 2023, I began the Shelton Qigong Teacher Training.
There is so much more to Qigong than I ever imagined. I appreciate the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Qigong holistic approach. The practices are as simple or complex as one chooses them to be. They embrace spirit, mind, body, nutrition, relationships, environmental influences, nature, and more. Over time and with regular practice, I experienced improved health and rejuvenation.
Qigong practices help us to achieve optimal health. Each person can customize the practices to suit their own spiritual beliefs. Creative visualization can guide the mind's intent to focus on the purpose of the flowing movements. And each person can choose practices to meet their own needs and goals.
As a Level II Shelton Qigong Instructor, I look forward to sharing what I have learned with you. I invite you to begin a “Someday” Qigong journey today. These simple ancient healing practices can be modified to remain safe, easy, and comfortable to do in various physical abilities and conditions.
As a nurse, I appreciate the historical quotes of “The Lady with the Lamp”. Nurse Florence Nightingale wrote, “So never lose an opportunity of urging a practical beginning, however small, for it is wonderful how often in such matters the mustard seed germinates and roots itself.”
Qigong offers ways for us to grow and empower new health beginnings today.
