Reflecting on the intense rollercoaster that was 2023, we can all agree it brought a mix of blessings and challenges. Amidst the ups and downs, we experienced not only joy but also significant moments of loss and transformation. As we stand on the cusp of a new year, it’s important to acknowledge the impact of the past and prepare ourselves for the abundance that awaits in 2024.

One powerful way to transition into the new year is through the ancient and powerful practice of Qigong. Qigong, rooted in Chinese medicine, involves coordinated body movements, breath control, and meditation to promote the flow of vital energy or “Qi” throughout the body. This practice is not only a physical exercise but also a holistic approach to well-being, touching on the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of our lives.

Negative energy tends to linger, and the residue of a challenging year can impact our overall well-being. To help you start 2024 with a clean slate, we’re sharing a short and sweet Qigong practice. This practice is designed to clear any lingering negativity from 2023, making room for positive energy and abundance in the coming year.

Find a Quiet Space: Set aside a few minutes in a quiet and comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed.
Center Yourself: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.
Heart Healing Sound: Contemplate on any feelings of abandonment, loneliness, lack-of-joy. Breathe in, and as you exhale, audibly or inaudibly chant the sound “HAA,” which is the vibrational sound for your Heart. Repeat this 9-36 times.
Swimming Dragon: Step the feet out shoulders width apart, bring the hands into a prayer position, shift your hands to one side of the body, as you look over the opposite shoulder, bending one knee and extending the other leg straight. Then switch to the other side, as you glide your hands to the opposite side, look over the other shoulder, bend the knee and extend the opposite leg straight.
Express Gratitude: Finish the practice by expressing gratitude for the lessons of 2023 and welcoming the opportunities for growth in 2024.
