Pain Relief and Emotional Healing with Qigong

Our Journey: How We’re Revolutionizing Pain Relief and Emotional Healing Through Ancient Qigong Practices

We’re thrilled to share that SF Press Media recently featured our work at Morning Crane Healing Arts Center.

You can read the original article here, but we wanted to give you our personal perspective on this incredible journey we’re on together.

In an era where chronic pain affects over 50 million Americans and stress-related disorders continue to skyrocket, we’ve discovered that sometimes the most powerful solutions come from ancient wisdom. As founders of Morning Crane Healing Arts Center, we’re leading what we like to call a quiet revolution in healthcare by bringing the transformative power of Qigong to people struggling with chronic pain, emotional trauma, and the overwhelming stress of daily living.

From Ancient Roots to Real Life Healing

Qigong, which predates even yoga, is an ancient Chinese healing art that combines gentle movement, breathwork, and meditation to cultivate life-force-energy, or “qi” or “chi.” While many people associate it with graceful movements in parks, we’ve discovered its profound potential for addressing some of today’s most pressing health challenges.

“Qigong is not only for emotional wellness and stress reduction, but more importantly, it’s for chronic pain and inflammatory conditions,” Chris explains. This perspective represents a fundamental shift in how we approach healing—moving beyond symptom management to address root causes.

The Hidden Connection We’ve Discovered: Emotional Stress and Physical Pain

One of the most revolutionary aspects of our approach is understanding the deep connection between emotional stress and physical pain. “Aside from accidents, emotional stress is the root cause,” Chris notes, highlighting a truth that conventional medicine is only beginning to acknowledge.

This insight has profound implications for treatment. Rather than simply managing pain with medications or invasive procedures, we use Qigong to address the underlying emotional patterns that often manifest as physical symptoms. By working with the body’s energy systems, our students experience relief that goes far deeper than surface-level pain management.

We see this transformation daily in our clinics—from our original location in San Jose to our newer clinic in downtown Burbank. People arrive carrying years of pain and stress, and through consistent practice, they discover their body’s incredible capacity for self-healing.

The Science Behind What We Teach

The effectiveness of Qigong lies partly in its ability to activate the parasympathetic nervous system—our body’s natural “rest and digest” mode. “Most of us are operating in the sympathetic nervous system, which is fight or flight,” Chris explains. This chronic state of stress activation contributes to inflammation, pain, and emotional dysfunction.

Through the gentle movements and mindful breathing we teach, Qigong helps shift the nervous system back to its healing state. This physiological change creates the optimal conditions for the body to repair itself naturally, reducing inflammation and promoting emotional balance.

Practical Transformation in Just Minutes a Day

Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of our approach is its accessibility. Parisa emphasizes that “each individual has to make themselves their own priority,” but this doesn’t require hours of daily practice. We’ve seen significant changes in both physical comfort and emotional well-being with just 10-15 minutes of daily Qigong.

We’ve made these practices even more accessible through The Qi Club, an online community where people can learn and practice Qigong from the comfort of their homes. This approach recognizes that healing must fit into real life, not require a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Beyond Individual Practice: Our Community Impact

Our reach extends far beyond individual healing sessions. Through partnerships with organizations like the Veterans Administration and Special Olympics, we’re bringing these healing arts to populations that often struggle with conventional treatment approaches.

Veterans, in particular, have found profound relief through our Qigong programs, discovering that these gentle movements can address both the physical injuries and emotional trauma that often come with military service. This application demonstrates Qigong’s versatility in addressing complex, multi-layered health challenges.

Working with Special Olympics athletes has been equally rewarding, showing us how these practices can enhance both physical performance and emotional resilience across all ability levels.

Our Holistic Approach to Wellness

Our methodology extends beyond movement practice to include guidance on sleep hygiene, nutrition, and stress management. We recommend specific practices like the reverse microcosmic orbit meditation for improving sleep quality naturally, recognizing that true healing requires attention to all aspects of daily life.

Our approach to diet and nutrition complements Qigong practice by reducing inflammation and supporting the body’s natural healing processes. This comprehensive strategy ensures that our students aren’t just learning movements, but developing a complete toolkit for lifelong wellness.

What We See as the Future of Healing

As healthcare costs continue to rise and chronic conditions become increasingly common, our work represents a promising alternative path. By empowering individuals with tools they can use independently, Qigong offers hope for sustainable, long-term healing that doesn’t depend on ongoing medical interventions.

The expansion from our original San Jose location to downtown Burbank demonstrates growing demand for these approaches, suggesting that more people are ready to explore healing methods that treat the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

Our Invitation to You

For anyone struggling with chronic pain, emotional stress, or simply seeking a more balanced approach to wellness, we want you to know that hope exists. Our success in bringing ancient wisdom to modern challenges proves that sometimes the most innovative healing approaches are actually thousands of years old.

We’ve dedicated our lives to this work because we’ve seen firsthand how it transforms lives. Every day, we witness people reclaiming their health, their joy, and their sense of empowerment. Whether through our in-person classes, our Chi Club community, or simply incorporating the principles we share into daily life, these practices are accessible to everyone.

The journey to healing doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming. Sometimes, the most powerful transformations begin with just 10 minutes of gentle movement and conscious breathing.

We’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Love and Chi,
-Chris and Parisa

    Hello Chris and Parisa
I belonged to the Qui Club several years ago and now would like to resume the qui Gong practice. I live in Canada and am a senior so on a fixed income. Between that and the exchange on the dollar the fee is beyond my reach. I wondered if there are any graduates of your classes who are now running their own classes and maybe even someone in Canada who I could reach out to?
Thank you both for all you do.

    Hi Parisa
Many thanks for this arrangement. I have made the payment and am excited about participating in the classes. I don’t see how to receive the link to create the password to access the club. I am hoping to be able to start tomorrow.
